Press Release on GMC Guidance to doctors regarding their own beliefs.

The Guidance is to be welcomed as it respects the beliefs and values of both patients and doctors.

It does not, however, address the position of doctors in training whose conscientiously held beliefs may differ from those of their senior colleagues, which may adversely affect their careers

It does not recognize that patients own beliefs and values may lead them to seek the care of doctors who share their beliefs. A multi faith profession is needed to serve a multi faith society
